Boondah Sports Precinct Set for Major Upgrades as Warriewood Population Surges

The Boondah Sports Precinct in Warriewood is set for major upgrades to support rising demand from local families, sporting clubs and nearby schools, as Warriewood Valley continues to be one of the fastest growing areas in the Northern Beaches.

More Facilities Planned To Support A Growing Community

According to Council planning documents, Warriewood Valley is expected to reach more than 2,000 homes and over 5,600 residents by 2030/31. The Boondah Sports Precinct, located along Boondah Road near Jacksons Road, has already been confirmed as the hub for organised sport and casual community use.

The precinct currently holds multiple sports fields, parking areas and amenities already funded through developer contributions. Council confirmed new lighting for fields 2, 3 and 4 is planned for delivery from 2026, alongside ongoing upgrades to support both daytime and night competitions. Earlier works at the precinct have included irrigation, car park improvements and safety-focused pedestrian access paths.

Upgrades At Boondah Road Part Of Long-term Sport Strategy

Council’s contributions plan shows Boondah Sports Precinct has been a core part of Warriewood’s sports infrastructure since the early 2000s. A $2.98 million upgrade at 3 Boondah Road commenced in 2021/22, with more works scheduled to expand access for soccer, cricket and school sports.

The precinct’s location near public transport and nearby Narrabeen Sports High School is one reason it was prioritised over creating a new greenfield sports site. Council has stated publicly it aims to make the precinct suitable not just for club sport, but also for casual recreation, community walkways and family use.

Warriewood Community Centre To Be Replaced And Expanded

In addition to sports infrastructure, Warriewood will receive a new community centre to replace the ageing Nelson Heather Centre at the corner of Jacksons Road and Pittwater Road. The new facility is planned to deliver 2,180 square metres of modern community floor space, with 449 square metres of that funded directly by Warriewood Valley residents through developer contributions.

The current centre is operating at capacity, and Council has stated the new facility will support youth programs, seniors activities, early childhood sessions, disability-inclusive services and event hire. Community members are invited to provide feedback through Council’s Your Say platform until 23 November 2025.

Council Says Sports And Community Projects Are Locally Funded

Northern Beaches Council has confirmed that these upgrades are paid for through the Warriewood Valley Development Contributions Plan, meaning developers, not existing ratepayers, are funding the new facilities.

The plan specifically reserves funds for Warriewood sports fields, open space, pedestrian links and community facilities. Council is staging the upgrades over several years, in line with funding collection and access needs.
