The awards reflect years of active patrol duty, maintained proficiency, and service records verified through official Surf Life Saving systems.

History Of Warriewood SLSC

Warriewood SLSC has served the local coastline since the early 1950s, after being formed by a small group of local volunteers responding to growing beach use at Warriewood Beach.

Over the decades, the club has developed into a consistent patrol presence on Sydney’s northern beaches, supported entirely by volunteers. Its history is closely tied to the surrounding community, with generations of members contributing time, training, and service to keep swimmers safe across changing surf conditions and seasons.

Application And Approval Process

National Medal applications follow a formal pathway. Clubs verify service records, state or territory centres endorse them, and Surf Life Saving Australia completes final checks before submission to the Australian Honours and Awards Secretariat.

Commonwealth rules accept applications only after members complete the full service period and reject early submissions. Clubs or services usually present the medals, keeping recognition closely connected to the communities where the service took place.

Community Impact And Local Meaning

For Warriewood, the recognition reflects the depth of experience held by long-serving members within the club. The medals formally acknowledge many seasons of verified patrol service spent supporting beach safety in changing conditions.

For the local community, the honours underline the steady presence of volunteers who return year after year, helping maintain safe swimming areas and supporting the everyday work of surf lifesaving at Warriewood Beach.
