Warriewood has seen a run of separate incidents over recent days — from a reported car theft to emergency crews responding to a late-night beach alarm — in what police say reflects a mix of opportunistic crime and risky behaviour.

Car taken from Garden Street

Police are investigating the theft of a vehicle from Garden Street, reported just before 9.45am on Saturday, 4 April.

The car had been parked when it was taken, with no further details released about how the theft occurred. The incident adds to ongoing concerns about vehicle-related crime across the Northern Beaches.

Aerosol fires spark emergency callout

Two days later, just before 4.00pm on Monday, 6 April, police and firefighters from Mona Vale were called to Pittwater Road near Warriewood Road following reports of youths setting fire to aerosol cans.

The behaviour prompted a rapid response due to the risk of explosion and injury, particularly in a busy roadside area.

Major search triggered at Turimetta Beach

Emergency services mounted a significant response at Turimetta Beach on Tuesday night, 7 April, after an Emergency Response Beacon (ERB) was activated just after 9.15pm.

Police — including water police and the PolAir helicopter — attended alongside NSW Ambulance crews and Surf Life Saving responders.

The caller, who did not identify themselves, reported a person in distress in the water. However, after a coordinated search of the area, including aerial and water patrols, all individuals present at the beach were accounted for and no one was found in the water.

Bonfire quickly shut down

Fire and Rescue NSW crews were again called to Warriewood Beach just after 6.30pm on Thursday, 9 April, where a group of युवths had lit a small bonfire.

The group complied with instructions to extinguish the fire, which was put out using sand.

A pattern of preventable callouts

While the incidents are not believed to be linked, they highlight a pattern of behaviour that continues to draw emergency resources — from avoidable fire risks to false alarms triggering large-scale search efforts.

Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant, particularly around vehicle security, and reminding young people of the serious risks associated with reckless behaviour.
