Narrabeen Football Club‘s senior field at Boondah Reserve now has four new LED light poles, giving players the ability to train and compete after dark throughout winter for the first time under properly lit conditions.
Field 2, on the corner of Jackson and Boondah Roads in Warriewood, serves as the club’s full-sized senior field and is the first at the reserve to receive the upgraded lighting.
A club with deep roots in Warriewood
Narrabeen FC has called Boondah Reserve home since 1975, when its original clubhouse — purchased from Narrabeen RSL for $1 — was cut into three pieces and reassembled on the corner.

The club grew out of the Narrabeen Youth Club, formed in 1965 with the motto “Citizenship through Sport and Culture,” and now runs one of the larger community football programs on the Northern Beaches, with eight fields at Boondah Reserve and a separate senior training base at Narrabeen Sports High School.
The new lighting directly expands what the club can offer its players, with training sessions and evening games previously constrained by the loss of natural light during the cooler months.
What’s new at the reserve
The four new poles carry energy-efficient LED lights that meet current Australian standards for sports field illumination. A central control system manages the lights, and clubs can switch to a training mode that reduces energy consumption and lowers field usage costs.

A new pedestrian lighting strip is also set to be installed along the shared path between the B-Line bus stop and Boondah Road, improving safety for walkers and cyclists arriving and departing after dark.
The reserve sits a short walk from Warriewood Square and the B-Line stop, making the path connection a practical improvement for the many players who arrive by public transport.
Part of a broader precinct upgrade
The lighting project is co-funded by the Warriewood Development Contributions Plan and the Manly Warringah Football Association, and forms part of a wider series of improvements planned for the Boondah Road sports precinct in coming years.
More information on the precinct’s future upgrades is available here.
Similar lighting projects have recently been completed at Keirle Park in Manly, where seven new LED poles were installed, and at Field 1 of Lionel Watts Reserve.
