A drink-driving crash in Warriewood left two women shaken and one facing serious legal consequences in the early hours of Saturday night, after a car rolled and struck two parked vehicles on a quiet residential street.
Just before 10.15pm on Saturday 11 July, NSW Police and firefighters from Mona Vale Fire Station responded to reports of a single-vehicle rollover on Lakeview Parade, Warriewood. The incident unfolded when a grey 2006 Mazda 3 collided with a Queensland-registered white 2017 Hyundai Kona before overturning and coming to rest against a white 2014 Mazda 3 that had been parked nearby.
The crash was loud enough to draw residents out of their homes. Neighbours came outside to check on those involved and contacted Triple Zero (000).
Both the 21-year-old driver — a Newport woman — and her female passenger, also in her 20s, were able to get themselves out of the overturned vehicle. Neighbours offered help at the scene, and while both women were visibly shaken, neither appeared to have sustained obvious injuries at that point.
When police spoke with the driver, a roadside breath test reportedly returned a positive result at the upper end of the middle range Prescribed Concentration of Alcohol (PCA). She was arrested and transported to Mona Vale Police Station, where a secondary test allegedly recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.122.
NSW Ambulance was called after the passenger reported head and chest pain. She was assessed by paramedics at the scene but did not require hospitalisation. Paramedics later attended Mona Vale Police Station to assess the driver, who was also cleared of injury.
The driver’s licence was suspended on the spot. She has been issued a Court Attendance Notice for driving with a middle range PCA and is due to appear before Manly Local Court on Wednesday, 19 August 2026.
Under NSW law, a middle range PCA conviction carries a maximum licence disqualification of 12 months, a fine of up to $2,200, and a potential custodial sentence of up to nine months. Beyond the criminal penalties, a PCA reading of this level is also likely to affect the driver’s insurance coverage for the damage caused in the collision.
The overturned vehicle was removed from the scene by a tow truck.
