A fire at a sporting facility in Warriewood has destroyed soccer equipment used by a local football club, as preparations continue for the upcoming season.
Fire Breaks Out at Boondah Reserve
Emergency services were called to the Boondah Reserve playing fields in Warriewood just before 5:30 p.m. on Monday, 3 February 2026, following reports of smoke coming from a storage shed at the facility.
Fire crews found an intense blaze inside two storage units located on the northern side of the amenities building. There were concerns the fire could spread into adjoining areas through the roof structure.
Firefighters forced entry to the shed and extinguished the main fire using two hose lines, successfully containing the damage to the storage area.
Equipment Loss Ahead of April Season
The building is used by Narrabeen Football Club. The fire destroyed stored equipment and merchandise required for the upcoming soccer season, which is scheduled to begin in April.
Club grading, which relies on the damaged equipment, is expected to proceed this weekend. Club representatives confirmed the season will continue despite the loss.
Smoke entered other parts of the building and was cleared using ventilation equipment. Possible smoke impact to kiosk contents has also been noted.

Cause Remains Under Investigation
The cause of the fire has not been determined. Fire crews were unable to identify how the blaze started, although there were suspicions it may have been deliberately lit and signs suggesting the storage shed may have been forcibly entered.
Police have indicated there were no signs of accelerants used. Reports of youths causing disturbances in the surrounding area shortly before the fire are being examined as part of ongoing inquiries.
Community Support and Recovery Efforts
A community member attempted to assist before emergency services arrived. Public messages posted after the incident also offered support, including assistance to help the club continue weekend activities.
The club said its committee will focus on replacing lost equipment in the coming weeks and re-establishing canteen and storage operations while investigations continue.
