The renaming of the reserve at 3 Boondah Road, Warriewood, to Ronda Alterator Reserve has officially been endorsed. The move honours the late Ronda Alterator OAM’s lifelong contributions to netball and community service.

A Lifetime of Service to Netball and the Community
Mrs Alterator was a cornerstone of netball in the Northern Beaches, dedicating over 42 years to Narrabeen Youth Club Netball. She served in various leadership roles, including director, president, vice president, coach, coordinator, and umpires’ convenor. Her passion and commitment earned her a life membership with the club.
Beyond netball, Mrs Alterator contributed significantly to local school P&C committees, fundraising initiatives, and senior citizen programs, further cementing her status as a devoted community leader.
In 2020, her dedication was formally recognised when she was awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for her service to netball. She also received Pittwater Council’s Outstanding Citizen of the Year Award, Manly Warringah Netball Association’s Outstanding Service Award, and the Ted Blackwood Volunteer of the Year Award.
Endorsement and Naming Process
NBC has acknowledged her influence on local sport and community life, with the renaming of Boondah Road Reserve seen as a fitting tribute. The next step is securing approval from the Geographical Names Board of NSW. Once confirmed, signage will be installed, and a naming ceremony will take place at the reserve, attended by her family, friends, and members of the Narrabeen Youth Club Netball.

Community and Sporting Figures Reflect on Her Impact
Many in the Northern Beaches sporting community recognise Mrs Alterator as a driving force behind netball development. A National ‘C’ Badged Umpire, she dedicated significant time to officiating games and mentoring new umpires.
In addition to her work with Narrabeen Youth Club Netball, she contributed to the Manly Warringah Netball Association (MWNA) through various sub-committees, including carnival and fixtures, coaching development, judiciary, and competition management.
Local leaders and community members have acknowledged her unwavering support for netball and volunteerism, noting her lasting impact on regional sports participation.
A Legacy That Lives On
Mrs Alterator passed away on 10 April 2024, leaving behind a legacy of dedication to netball and community service. She is survived by her husband, Col and daughters Kelly and Karen.
The renaming of Boondah Road Reserve ensures that her efforts in Warriewood continue to inspire future generations of netball players and volunteers.
